Actress Ruby Dee was an American actress, poet, playwright, screenwriter, and civil rights activist. She was best known for her role in the 1961 film A Raisin in the Sun, and her marriage to actor Ossie Davis. Her first name was Ruby Ann Wallace, and she was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1922. She was also known by her stage name, Dee, and her married name, Ruby Dee-Keeler. She passed away in 2014 at the age of 91.
