Actress Helen Hayes is an Academy Award-winning actress who has been in the entertainment industry for over five decades. She is best known for her roles in films such as Airport, Anastasia, and The Sin of Madelon Claudet. She was also the first woman to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Hayes was also the first female performer to receive the Kennedy Center Honors in 1978. She was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 1979 and received the National Medal of Arts in 1986.
