Alastair Sim was a Scottish actor who was active in the mid-20th century. He is best known for his roles in the 1951 adaptation of Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol' and the 1953 comedy 'The Belles of St. Trinian's'. He was also a prolific stage actor, appearing in numerous productions in London's West End. Sim was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in 1954 for his performance in 'The Maggie'. He was also awarded an OBE in 1952 for his services to the theatre.
