Achille Lauro was an Italian cruise ship that was hijacked in 1985 by the Palestine Liberation Front. The hijacking was led by Youssef Magied al-Molqi, who demanded the release of 50 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons. The hijacking ended after four days when the hijackers surrendered to the Italian authorities. The ship was named after Achille Lauro, an Italian politician and businessman.
