The 70s Israel leader was Golda Meir, a four-letter word. Meir was the fourth Prime Minister of Israel, serving from 1969 to 1974. She was the first woman to hold the position and is widely remembered for her role in negotiating peace with Egypt in 1979. Meir was born in Ukraine and immigrated to the United States in 1906, eventually settling in Palestine in 1921.
