The 6th of December is a significant date in history as it marks the anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. The term 'BEE' is an acronym for the first three words of the convention, which are 'Best Interests of the Child'. This convention was adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1989 and has since been ratified by all but two countries. It is considered to be one of the most widely accepted human rights treaties in the world.
