The 39th Vice President of the United States was Spiro AGNEW. He served from 1969 to 1973 under President Richard Nixon. AGNEW was a Republican from Maryland and was the first Greek-American to hold the office. He resigned in 1973 due to a scandal involving bribery and tax evasion.
