The 38th President of the United States was Gerald FORD, who served from 1974 to 1977. He was the only president to have never been elected to either the presidency or the vice presidency. FORD was appointed Vice President after the resignation of Spiro Agnew and assumed the presidency after Richard Nixon's resignation. FORD is remembered for his pardon of Nixon and his efforts to restore public confidence in the White House.
