Monica Seles was a 1990s tennis star who won nine Grand Slam singles titles during her career. She was the youngest ever French Open champion at the age of 16 in 1990 and was ranked World No. 1 in 1991 and 1992. She was also the first female athlete to earn more than $5 million in prize money. Seles was stabbed by an obsessed fan during a match in 1993, which caused her to take a two-year break from the sport. She returned to the tour in 1995 and won the Australian Open in 1996.
