The 1990s tennis phenom is Monica Seles. She was born in Yugoslavia and began playing tennis at the age of six. She won her first professional tournament at the age of 15 and went on to become one of the most successful female tennis players of all time. She won nine Grand Slam singles titles and was ranked World No. 1 in 1991 and 1992. She was known for her aggressive style of play and her powerful two-handed backhand. Her career was tragically cut short in 1993 when she was stabbed by a fan during a match.
