The 1862 Tennessee Battle Site is known as Shiloh. It was a major battle of the American Civil War, fought April 6–7, 1862, in southwestern Tennessee. The battle pitted Union forces under Major General Ulysses S. Grant and Don Carlos Buell against Confederate forces under General Albert Sidney Johnston and P.G.T. Beauregard. The battle resulted in nearly 24, 000 casualties and a Union victory.
