The 15th-century ship, Nina, was a caravel-type vessel used by Christopher Columbus on his first voyage to the Americas in 1492. It was one of three ships that made up the expedition, the other two being the Pinta and the Santa Maria. The Nina was the smallest of the three ships, measuring only 50 feet long and 17 feet wide. It was also the fastest of the three, capable of reaching speeds of up to 8 knots. The Nina was captained by Vicente Yanez Pinzon, who was an experienced sailor and navigator.
