The term 1492 Ship of Note refers to the Niña, a caravel sailing ship used by Christopher Columbus on his first voyage to the New World. The Niña was one of three ships that set sail from Spain in August 1492, and was the smallest of the three. It was captained by Vicente Yáñez Pinzón and was crewed by 24 sailors. The Niña was used for exploration and trading during the voyage, and returned to Spain in March 1493.
