The 10th President of the United States was John Tyler, who served from 1841 to 1845. He was a member of the Whig Party and was the first Vice President to assume the Presidency upon the death of his predecessor, William Henry Harrison. Tyler was a strong advocate for states' rights and was known for his opposition to the national bank. He also supported the annexation of Texas and the expansion of slavery.
